Windows — shared for GeForce and Radeon

These steps are the same for both GPUs. Do them once — better stability and fewer background stutters.

  1. 1.Game Mode

    Settings → Gaming → Game Mode → On. Turn off "Record in the background" if you are not streaming.

  2. 2.Power plan

    Control Panel → Power Options → "High performance" or "Ultimate Performance". On laptops — plug into AC power.

  3. 3.GPU hardware scheduling

    Settings → System → Display → Graphics → enable Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling (HAGS). Reboot after changing.

  4. 4.Game Bar and overlays

    Disable Xbox Game Bar, Discord overlay, GeForce Experience overlay / AMD overlay in matches — they add input lag and frame drops.

  5. 5.Background processes

    Close browsers with many tabs, RGB software with aggressive polling, torrents. Task Manager → Startup — remove unnecessary apps.

💡 GamesCfg has launch options for PUBG and Rust — CPU, RAM, and process priority.

Driver and NVIDIA App

Keep the Game Ready Driver up to date. In NVIDIA App / GeForce Experience, disable "Optimal settings" for competitive games — manual tuning is better.

  1. NVIDIA App → Settings → disable In-Game Overlay if you do not need it
  2. Do not use DSR/VSR unless necessary — extra load
  3. For CS2 / Valorant — Studio Driver is not required, Game Ready is enough

Control Panel → Manage 3D settings

Right-click desktop → NVIDIA Control Panel → Manage 3D settings. Set globally or use "Program Settings" per game.

Per-game (NVIDIA)

Manage 3D settings → "Program Settings" tab → Add → select the game exe.

  • CS2: Low Latency On, DLSS not applicable, Reflex in-game — On + Boost
  • PUBG: maximum performance, anisotropic filtering 4x–8x to taste
  • Apex: Reflex in-game, NVIDIA — Low Latency On
  • Rust: maximum performance + launch options from the site
  • Valorant: NVIDIA Reflex "On + Boost" in game settings
G-SYNC / FreeSync: for maximum FPS in competitive play, many players turn it off. For smoothness without tearing — enable in the NVIDIA panel and set FPS limit 3 below monitor Hz.

Cleanup and monitoring

  • DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) — clean driver reinstall every six months if you see artifacts
  • MSI Afterburner — monitoring only, no aggressive overclock in ranked
  • HWiNFO — check that GPU is not thermal throttling (83°C+)
  • Folder C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA Corporation\NV_Cache — clear if shader glitches occur
